Observations of the Ca II K line in Hel0830A dark points on August 3, 1985

Spectroheliograms taken in the light of He I 10830 A at the National Solar Observatory Vacuum Telescope on Kitt Peak were used to identify coronal holes and bright points (BPs). Target points were identified, coordinates calculated, and spectra recorded. For each spectrum, the difference in wavelength between the Ca II K minimum and the FeI reference line was calculated. It was noteworthy that the overall effect is a blueshift. It should be noted that if material of chromospheric density moves outward at this velocity, it could supply the mass flux of the solar wind if this chromospheric flow was concentrated in a few dozen sources, each of a diameter of a few arc seconds

Composition and Nutritive Value of Corn Co-Products from Dry Milling Ethanol Plants

The South Dakota ethanol industry is rapidly expanding. As a direct result of this expansion it is expected that in excess of 500,000 tons of corn co-products will be available to livestock enterprises annually as a feed source. Processing methods are, in general terms, similar among dry milling ethanol plants. However, newer technology and small deviations of methods can alter the nutritive value of the co-products. Subsequently, diet formulations using general nutritive values may be inaccurate and cause production inefficiencies. OSO-8 X-ray observations of AM Herculis

Hard X-ray observations of the binary system AM Her were coincident with soft X-ray and ground-based optical measurements. In the 2-60 KeV band, variability was detected with an eclipse during phases 0.5 to 0.7 with respect to the 0. d 12892 period optical minima, synchronous with the known soft X-ray eclipse. The 2-60 KeV uneclipsed flux was 9.5 x 10 to the minus 10th power erg sq cm/sec, of which 86% lies above 10 keV. Thus AM Her contains a hard source located near the similarly eclipsed soft X-ray source. The X-ray data are interpreted in terms of thermal bremsstrahlung from accretion onto a white dwarf
